Meet Dr. Washington
Dr. Edward Washington was born and raised in New Jersey before his family decided to transplant back to their (originally from Brunswick, GA) Georgia roots by way of Alpharetta, GA. He attended River Trail Middle School and graduated from Northview High School in Duluth, GA. During his high school studies, he decided on a career in medicine.
He graduated summa cum laude and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Morehouse College. He attended medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. After graduation he worked in the surrounding Atlanta Metropolitan area (Atlanta VA, Grady Hospital, Emory University Hospital) during his internship at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Washington completed his Ophthalmology residency in Columbus, OH at The Ohio State University. He completed his Glaucoma fellowship at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
Following his training, he joined faculty at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, and served patients at University Hospital, Norton Children's Hospital and Louisville VA Hospital. His clinical responsibilities included training residents in diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and cataract patients in the clinic and the operating room.
After relocating his family back to Georgia, he decided on focusing his purpose and intention to giving patients quality, and professional ophthalmic service to the local area. He is determined and dedicated to serving patients of the Atlanta Metropolitan and Georgia.
Dr. Edward Washington is board certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is experienced in medical, laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma patients. Dr. Washington has performed new Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) and recommend specific procedures based on the individual patient. He has trained on the newest techniques and technology for the diagnosis and treatment of cataract patients.
In his free time, Dr. Washington enjoys spending time with his wife, Pamela, and his son, Winston. They love traveling, exercising, cooking and trying new foods.
